Named like this rather improperly, Galeria Calina represents a contemporary art space, which paradoxically functions according to some alternative principles applied in an elegant location.
The eminence of the artist, preoccupied with abstract art, Romul Nutiu and the elegance of the journalist, Alina Cristescu, had developed a critical approach of the space. Romul Nutiu applied the modernist strategy while being interested in experiments.
Alina Cristescu comes from an area which is profoundly influenced by the public role of art and urban life.
The gallery becomes a white cube provided with the problems of a social space.
Given its good contact zone between then and now, starting with 2007 Galeria Calina presents some important names of artists artiști Aitch & Saddo, Mihai Barabancea, Răzvan Boar, Ciprian Ciuclea, Suzana Dan, Daniel Djamo, Constantin Flondor, Ciprian Homorodean, Liliana Mecioiu, Gili Mocanu, Sebastian Moldovan, Teodor Moraru, Romul Nuțiu, Sorin Oncu, Marilena Preda Sânc, Mircea Stănescu, Iulia Toma, Mihai Zgondoiu et. al. and curators Liviana Dan, Runxandra Demetrescu, Olivia Nițiș, Diana Marincu, Iliana Pintilie, Constantin Prut, Alexandra Titu, Robert Cristian Velescu et. al. related to the art scene in Romania.
