Karolina Ziebinska-Lewandowska

Karolina Ziębińska-Lewandowska (PhD) curator and historian of art specialised in photography. Since 2014 she is curator at the Photography Department of the Musée National d’Art Contemporain Centre Pompidou in Paris. Before this, she worked at Zachęta – the National Gallery of Art, Warsaw (1999-2010). In 2008, she and Karolina Puchała-Rojek founded the Archaeology of Photography Foundation, Warsaw. It was the first NGO looking to protect and bring to light the archives of influential Polish photographers on a major scale. It works towards popularizing and making the archives accessible by means of initiating photographic projects based on the content of the archives.
Among the exhibitions she curated are: She-Documentalists – Polish Women photographers of the 20th Century; Allan Sekula – Polonia and Other Fables; Zbigniew Dlubak – Body Structures or Polish Photomontage Between the World-Wars.
