The idea of “painting overall” provides a key to understanding what direction is Radu Comșa trying to lead us through. Incorporating divagations, extractions, references, his transcriptions (from one material to another, from one shape to another, from one conceptual frame to another) are referring to the art object as a form of replica of the artist’s own design of thoughts. These diagrammatic transcriptions (plates of cast concrete, cement paste paintings, handprinted fabrics - informed by his interest in modernist architecture, concrete poetry, and atonal music) operate as visual morphemes expected to intertwine and further release extra meaning.
