Located in the attic of the Arts and Design Faculty, one of the most prestigious art university education institutions in Romania, Galeria Mansarda will host some of the Art Encounters talks.

The location hosts on a regular basis exhibitions of the faculty’s students and also other different exhibition, conferences and cultural events like Studentfest or the Biennale of miniature photography “With or Without You”. Galeria Mansarda will introduce the students of the Arts and Design Faculty in the middle of the Art Encounters environment.

The building that hosts the Arts and Design Faculty and in the same time Galeria Mansarda is situated North from the Union Square in the former Ferdinand Barracks, known during time as Nándor Barracks, Regimentul 5 Vânători (5th Regiment of Hunters) Barracks or Oituz Barracks. It dominates the military complex which was built during the Austrian administration, before 1860, on the site of the former bastions of the fortress. After 1989 the area is demilitarized and the building left deserted. The building of the former barracks has a ground floor, 2 other floors and an attic and presents minimum ornamentation and equally disposed windows. The planimetry of the building is a simple one, rectangular, two other staircases made of glass and steel being added afterwards.
