www.ap-arte.ro/blog

Andrei Pandele, architect by profession, is also a photographer, and his works about the communist period are exhibited in many countries in the recent years.

He graduated from the Ion Mincu Architecture Institute in Bucharest and, since 1968, he worked in design institutes, agencies and architectural companies. Between 1998-2001, he was Deputy Chief Architect of the Capital. Although during the communist area he took pictures for sports publications, Pandele became famous after the Revolution, known as the only Romanian photographer who sistematically captured images of the Ceaușescu era. The exhibition which brought him recognition took place in 2008 at the National Museum of Contemporary Art, and it was named 'Prohibited photos and personal images'. Pictures chosen for this exhibition are part of his personal archives, some of them unknown to the public.
